Origin

Red Cap® Valtod is one of the more attractive natural mutants of the Red Delicious variety.

Tree

Short-spur sport of Red Delicious, but with slightly stronger growth than other Red Delicious clones available in our market.

Flowering and pollination

Early and long flowering period. Good pollinators for Red Cap® Valtod are: Professor Sprenger, Evereste, Red Sentinel, Idared, Granny Smith. As well as standard Golden Delicious.

Fruit Characteristics

Early and consistent fruiting. Fruits achieve full colour weeks ahead of other varieties.

Flavour

Sweet fruit with crisp and firm flesh, becoming more tender with extended storage. Balanced sugar and acid content, offering a better taste of Red Cap® Valtod than Red Chief and Red Top.

Fruit

The Red Cap® Valtod fruit is large with elongated shape. Ripe fruits are deep red in colour and have a very shiny skin. Fruits are 100% covered with a blurred blush.

End of September, beginning of October.
