Geneva® G11
Geneva® G11 Rootstock
Years of research unequivocally show that the new rootstocks from the GENEVA® series excel in many ways. Tests of the new GENEVA® rootstocks are conducted on all continents where fruit orchards are grown. They are examined from various perspectives under the most extreme conditions. For our region, the most desirable feature is, of course, their frost resistance and resistance to replant diseases! Currently, these are the only rootstocks available on the market with this feature!
A Milestone in Fruit Production
We can confidently say that the rootstocks from the G series will be a breakthrough in fruit production. They will enable the obtaining of a higher quality crop at a lower cost. Wavit® Prudom(S)
Wavit® Prudom(S) Rootstock
A licensed rootstock obtained from Schreiber nursery in Austria. It was developed from selected seedlings of the Wangenheim's Damson. It is propagated vegetatively in in vitro cultures. Each rootstock is identical, allowing for uniform growth and fruiting of trees in the orchard. The vegetative Wavit® Prudom(S) rootstock combines the well-known advantages of the long-cultivated Wangenheim's Damson seedling with the benefits of vegetative rootstock clones. This guarantees excellent uniformity in both the nursery and orchard. The rootstock has the same growth vigour as the Wangenheim's Damson seedling.
Rootstock for Plums and Apricots
Varieties grafted onto this rootstock begin to fruit early and produce stable, abundant yields. The larger fruit size is an additional advantage. It is especially recommended for strongly growing varieties. However, any modern variety will show positive fruiting compared to traditional rootstocks. It does not tend to produce root suckers. The recommended planting distance is the same as with the standard Wangenheim's Damson seedling.
Advantages of Wavit® Prudom(S) Rootstock
-
High adaptability to different soil and climatic conditions. On dry and poor soils, additional irrigation may be necessary.
-
High frost tolerance.
-
Varieties on Wavit® Prudom(S) start fruiting early and regularly give high yields. The advantage is good fruit size and additionally, fruits ripen a few days earlier.
-
Wavit® Prudom(S) grafts well with all plum and apricot varieties. Both grafting and budding give very good results.
-
Wavit® Prudom(S) has a delicate root system with several strong main roots, allowing it to stay stable in the soil while actively absorbing nutrients.
